I used data from Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography to map out differences in population demographics and household expenditure to visualize patterns between them in ArcGIS. This required skills in data compilation and several different ArcGIS skills and practices for a successful mapping project.

GISC200_finalDownload

GIS project on car accidents in Carbondale, CO

Course: Spatial Analysis

For this intermediate GIS course, I wanted to analyze patterns in car accidents in Carbondale, a small city in Colorado to see if any specific intersections, ages or other factors played a significant role in the frequency of car accidents. I compiled GIS crash data from Colorado’s Department of Transportation and Public School Locations from Colorado’s Geospatial Portal, properly projected the spatial data on a map and used different analysis tools to view any patterns.

GIS final (1)Download

Geographic Information Science is an essential skill to have in a world that is heavily turning more digital.
